Check out these new industry stats:
The WFDSA produces Industry statistics each year and 2011 has recently been published which I (Ed Ludbrook) am able to compare with my 20 years of analysis to get some interesting and important points for you.
Now these are for the 'Direct Sales' industry, or which Network Marketing accounts for about 65%. In most developed countries, Networking is over 90%.
The Big Numbers
Global Sales - US $153 bn in 2011. WOW!!
That is up $42billion in 5 years. [lets write this out...$42,000,000,000]
22 countries had sales of more than $1billion! I remember when there were only two countries!
Global recession? LOL.
Global Numbers Involved - 91.5million [yes, more people than population of Germany.]
AND... this does not count, due to no data, countries such as China, any country in Africa other than RSA, any country in Middle East other than Isreal, most of former Soviet States. My estimate that they would add more than 10 million, taking actual global numbers over 100 million.
This is up 40 million more people in 5 years.
Are we helping people across the world or what?!
So where has this extra-ordinary growth come from?
From two areas, big expansion in many 'Established' countries and 'pioneering' booms in many 'Emerging' countries, such as China, India, Vietnam, Nigeria, Turkey.
We established this industry in 50 Markets during the last 20 years in North & South America, Western & Central Europe, Australasia and North Asia & South East Asia.
Accelerating in late 2000s, has been the new people have been establishing the 'Emerging' Regions of Central & Eastern Europe, Central & South America, Asia [India, China]. The New Emerging Regions are in Africa, Middle East and CIS countries such as Kazakstan.
What about the 50 Established Markets?
Stand out growth [looking at Sales and factoring in the drop in the US$] has been from countries that were pioneered in late 1990s and early 2000s so had the platform for their first big expansion phase over past 5-10 years. Huge numbers produced in countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Russia & Thailand.
In the more mature markets, there was stand out growth in Canada, France, Switzerland, Sweden and, not surprisingly given economic issues, Portugal, Ireland & Greece.
What about the future?
Now this is a great question that everyone needs to discover.
Obviously the Emerging markets will continue their 1st Boom stage. China is already the 3rd largest market and will go from strength to strength. This will add another $50bn
I think the best story will come out of the 50 Established markets as they evolve from what I called a 'Pioneer' approach to a 'Professional' approach.
